My Approach

I'm trained in a variety of evidence-based and research-informed therapies. My primary theoretical orientation and approach is Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT). CBT is an active, time-limited and collaborative process, where the patient and therapist collaborate to establish and achieve specific goals in therapy and daily life. I also employ an integrative and family systems approach. When working with a child who has experienced complex trauma or disruption in attachment, I use an attachment-focused family therapy approach, Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP).

I specialize in the latest advances in behavioral therapies, including:

  • Attachment Focused Family Therapy -Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy-

  • Exposure Therapy with Response Prevention (ERP)

  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

  • Trauma Focused CBT

  • Behavioral Activation

  • Thought Challenging/Cognitive Restructuring

  • Habit Reversal Training (HRT)

  • Coping Skills Training

  • Social Skills Training

  • Problem Solving Skills Training

  • Organizational Skills Training

  • Mindfulness and Relaxation

  • Behavioral Parent Training & Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT)-informed treatments

I also works with children who have experienced Complex Trauma.

HOW DO I SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT?

Dr. Becker-Weidman first briefly speaks with potential clients or their parents by phone to address any questions and concerns about the treatment process. Once an appointment is scheduled, patients are asked to complete a questionnaire and provide any materials that would be helpful for Dr. Becker-Weidman to review before the initial meeting. Such materials include reports of any previous educational, psychological, neuropsychological and/or psychiatric evaluations and treatments, as well as 504 plans and/or IEPs.

Psychological Services

Do you accept medical insurance?

As an out-of-network provider, I do not accept insurance. However, upon request, I will provide receipts of payments containing the information generally required by insurance companies for reimbursement. The client can attach these receipts to his or her insurance claim forms. As insurers differ greatly in the services they cover, clients are advised to contact their provider before the initial appointment and ask about eligibility for reimbursement for out-of-network services with a licensed clinical psychologist.

I will collect the payment at the time of service.
